Macedonia international Darko Churlinov will not be able to play for the Macedonian national team in the matches against Switzerland, Slovenia and Scotland during the upcoming window (26.09\u201306.10) of the new Nations League cycle.<\/p>\n
The reason is an administrative procedure related to his residence and employment status in Poland. The club he plays for, Pogo\u0144 Szczecin, started the procedure for securing the necessary work and residence documentation for Churlinov late.<\/p>\n
Churlinov is currently in the European Union and has been there for an extended period without leaving its territory. Under the rules on short-term stays in the Schengen Area, a stay without the appropriate permit is limited to 90 days within a 180-day period. If he were to leave the European Union at this moment, upon re-entering Poland he would be subject to checks regarding compliance with the conditions for entry and residence, due to exceeding the permitted period without the appropriate documentation. If he were to leave the European Union and come to Macedonia, returning to the countries of the European Union could be made more difficult, or he could be subject to appropriate sanctions for exceeding the permitted period of stay without the necessary work and residence documents.<\/p>\n
The Football Federation of Macedonia was informed about the situation immediately before the official national team gathering. In accordance with the established procedures, the invitation for Darko Churlinov to play in the upcoming matches was sent to his club three weeks ago.<\/p>\n
According to information received from Poland, at least two weeks are needed to complete the entire procedure and secure the necessary documentation, which at this moment does not allow Churlinov to leave Poland and join the national team gathering without risking his future status.<\/p>\n
FFM remains in communication with all parties involved, with the aim of resolving the administrative procedure as soon as possible. The Embassy of Macedonia in Poland has been informed about the case, and UEFA is also aware of the situation, with the aim of finding an appropriate solution within the applicable procedures and regulations.<\/p>\n
Macedonia national team head coach Goce Sedloski will make a further decision on whether to call up another footballer in place of Darko Churlinov for the upcoming matches.<\/p>\n
