The Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) appointed Vlatko Kolev as the head coach of the Macedonian U-17 national team at a meeting of the Board of Directors. By accepting the position, Kolev ends his work as a coach at FC Vardar, and will focus his attention on building a competitive national team ahead of the upcoming qualifiers in October.<\/p>\n

Vlatko Kolev is a coach with a Pro license. He has been working in youth club football for almost two decades, in the domestic teams Vardar, Rabotnicki and Metalurg, and has been twice named coach of the year in youth categories. His last engagement was in the Vardar coaching staff, as one of Goce Sedloski's assistants.<\/p>\n

I have been involved in working with the youth categories in our club football for more than two decades and I look positively at the new challenge."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A former football player from the champion generations of Vardar and Sileks says that the 2009 generation is promising, he expects motivation and dedication from the players in the upcoming matches.<\/p>\n

"This is a promising generation of football players that I am closely following and know well. We are already expecting a qualifying tournament for the Elite Phase in October and our priority will be to build a competitive team that will be ready for the upcoming tournament, to which we will enter maximally motivated and dedicated. By accepting the position of head coach, my activity as a coach at FC Vardar ends. I wish the club much success in the future. My full attention and energy will be directed towards the national team."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Macedonia U17 will play two friendly matches against Cyprus on September 16 and 18 in Strumica. The qualifying tournament for the Elite Phase of the European Championship qualifiers will follow in October. Our opponents in the tournament we are hosting will be Hungary (October 8), Czech Republic (October 11) and Gibraltar (October 14).<\/p>\n
