Under-16 footballers more successful than Latvia

In the first of two friendly matches being played in Skopje, the Macedonian national under-16 team defeated Latvia 2:1.

Coach Ilami Isejni's team went on the offensive towards the opponent's goal from the very beginning and after several scoring opportunities, in the 18th minute, Medin Emini, assisted by Adrian Veleski, managed to beat the opponent's goalkeeper and give Macedonia a 1:0 advantage.

In the second half, our hopes had a chance to increase the lead, but Marin Krstevski's shot ended up in the Latvian goalkeeper, Hugo Wilkins.

In the 21st minute of the match, Latvia took advantage of the only opportunity and tied the score at 1:1 through Henrijs Hotoms.

By the end of the first half, Aleksandar Polimac had a chance to score, but his attempt was blocked.

Macedonia continued to dominate the field in the second half, with Stefan Ristic and Veleski having the most serious scoring opportunities, who in the 89th minute, after an assist from Polimac, beat Wilkins with a beautiful shot.

The Macedonian U-16 national team will play another friendly match against Latvia, which is scheduled for Friday, starting at 1 p.m.
