In the match from the 5th round of the First MFL between FC Tikvesh and FC Vardar, in the 25th minute of the match, the home team’s number 22 deliberately struck an opposing player with his elbow in the head area, with no possibility of playing the ball.
This is an offence which, according to the criteria and the Laws of the Game, meets the conditions for a straight red card, namely serious foul play bordering on violent conduct.
The VAR intervention in this situation is fully justified and correct, in accordance with the established VAR intervention protocol, given that this is a situation which directly affects the decision on the disciplinary sanction.
And as for the TV commentator, who almost constantly repeated that „there was no foul for a red card“ – if necessary, we will be happy to explain the Laws of the Game and refereeing criteria to him, so that in the future the public receives expert analysis rather than an opinion based on a lack of knowledge of the rules.
