Macedonia U19 narrowly lost to Belgium in the opening match of the Elite Phase qualifying tournament

The Macedonian national team under 19 lost narrowly (1:0) to the Belgian national team in the match played in Porto in the qualifying tournament for the Elite Phase of the European Championship.

Coach Erhan Selimi's team played a competitive and disciplined match against a strong opponent, and with a little more luck they could have achieved a positive result.

In the 86th minute, Latifi made a nice run down the left side and passed the ball to Damjaniski from about 7-8 meters, who with a slightly better reception or a shot from the first could have equalized. A few minutes later, after a corner kick, Murgjeski hit the post.

Belgium scored the only goal of the match in the 72nd minute through Misuai and justified their role as favorites, while our youth showed great fighting spirit and discipline in difficult weather conditions, the match was played under constant rain.

Macedonia will play two more matches before the end of the qualifiers, against host Portugal (November 15) and Estonia (November 18), in which they will try to achieve a better ranking and result in the group.
