The Macedonian A national team opened the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a 3:0 victory in Vaduz against Liechtenstein.
Our best team decided the winner after the first half. Aleksandar Trajkovski in the 8th minute and Visar Musliu in the 43rd minute were the scorers after the first 45 minutes at the "Rheinpark" stadium. In the second half, Bojan Miovski also scored for a final 3:0 for Macedonia.
Coach Milevski started the match with the best lineup. We had a very offensive formation, with Miovski, Trajkovski, Čurlinov, Elmas, Bardi and Alimi in the attack and midfield. That brought pressure to Macedonia and more play was played in Liechtenstein's half.
In the 8th minute, Miovski passed goalkeeper Buchel and sent a cross in front of the goal, where Aleksandar Trajkovski bowed in front of the ball.
In the second half, Macedonia continued to press, and a penalty was called for in the 17th minute, but VAR overturned it. The opponent only crossed the half-way line for the first time in the middle of the first half, and had a serious opportunity, but Wieser's free kick ended in the wall. In the 28th minute, Macedonia scored a second goal. After a good action by Elmas and Čurlinov, Elmas scored, but the referees overturned the goal due to offside.
Then Miovski had a chance to increase the lead to 0-2, but his header hit the hands of goalkeeper Buchel. At the end of the first half, Visar Musliu scored a nice goal, who scored in the 43rd minute after a corner kick from Bardi, making it 0-2.
In the second half, Elmas and Trajkovski missed a double chance for a convincing 0-3. After an hour of play, Miovski had a chance, but was too short in the rebound after Alioski's cross.
In the 65th minute, a new opportunity for Macedonia. Darko Čurlinov shot from an angle, but the home goalkeeper saved it. In the 80th minute, the debutant in our team, David Toshevski, had a great chance, but again the home goalkeeper prevented a goal in the Liechtenstein net. In the 84th minute, finally a third goal for Macedonia. Bojan Miovski scored for 3:0 after taking advantage of Bojan Ilievski's excellent cross.
