The Macedonian national football team suffered a convincing 7-1 defeat away to Wales in the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifying cycle. After this, we will await the draw for the playoff for World Cup qualification from the last, fourth drum.
Coach Blagoja Milevski admitted that the result was very difficult to accept.
"We were far from our true form, we simply were not at the required level. We failed in many aspects, we did not resemble the team that had previously been undefeated for 14 matches. But these players are the same ones who brought us numerous joys and did not know defeat for a long time. As for me, there is no doubt at all that I have the motivation and desire to continue leading Macedonia," said coach Blagoja Milevski.
He then tried to analyze the crushing defeat.
"We didn't find a solution to their aggression. I want to congratulate Wales. I take full responsibility, it has always been mine. The way we lost hurts even more than the result. We failed to respond physically, so this outcome was almost inevitable," Milevski concluded his address.
