On 2 and 3 September, the pitches of the Football Federation of Macedonia will host the „Vasil Ringov“ Memorial Tournament for the first time, dedicated to one of the greatest legends in the history of Macedonian football and to Macedonia’s most decorated club, Vardar.
More than 20 teams from Macedonia will take part in the tournament, featuring the youngest footballers from the 2016, 2017 and 2018 age groups. For them, this will be an opportunity to compete and socialise, but also a way for the youngest players to understand that the club whose jersey they wear today has its own story, its own heroes and generations that have left their mark. And Vasil Ringov is precisely one of them.
The organiser invited Ringov’s former teammates and club footballers to attend the tournament as guests, allowing the youngest players to directly experience part of Vardar’s legacy. The guests are expected to include Kocho Dimitrovski, Gordan Zdravkov, Sasho Todorovski, Boban Babunski, Gotse Shteriev, Gotse Aleksovski, Vujadin Stanojkovikj, Ilija Najdoski, Darko Panchev and Odzhakov, names who are themselves part of the club’s rich history.
The tournament will be opened by Srgjan Ivanovikj, author of the biography of Vasil Ringov, which additionally gives the event the character of a commemoration and tribute, rather than merely a sporting competition.
The matches on 2 September (Wednesday) begin at 18:00.
