The 49th Congress of the European Football Association, UEFA, was held today in Belgrade.
The Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) was represented by President Masar Omeragić, Secretary General Leonid Jandreoski and his deputy Drilon Ganiu.
The UEFA Congress brought together the leaders of European and world football, many guests from the world of football and from various spheres of social life.
In Belgrade, European football's top figures discussed the future of European and world football. In his speech, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin highlighted why the core values of European football – unity, solidarity and teamwork – are more important than ever in a divided world.
"We are a united team. A united force and a powerful alliance." European football must continue to be a model of unity in an increasingly divided world.
We stand here together today not because we are the same, but because we share the same passion for football. We are not just fans of the game.so, but we are here as people who are responsible for the future of football, which is a mirror of society. Behind us is the brilliant EURO 2024, which was a festival of togetherness, competitive spirit and joy.
Politics may build walls, but football builds bridges. Everywhere we turn today, we see divisions. When we hear it every day, it is easy to believe it. But this division is an illusion, a tactic used by those who want to divide us, for political or financial gain. But we respond to such people with one voice. European football must remain a model of togetherness, and it will remain so. We respect, we build, we encourage, we connect, that is our mission to which we are committed.
I want to thank all the national associations because you are the pillar of European football.. "Football doesn't promise a perfect world, but it shows us what's possible when we play for each other."
FIFA President Gianni Infantino was also a guest at the Congress in Belgrade.
"It is always an honour for me to speak at the UEFA Congress, where I have worked for many years and I try to apply what I have learned from successful European football. Today I would like to focus on three themes. The first is togetherness, because football unites people. We should always use football to unite people and nations, especially in today's world. I wish the hosts Switzerland a successful Women's European Championship, as well as UEFA and all participants. We must strive to invest even more in women's football, this should be your priority and ours", emphasized Gianni Infantino.
At the 49th Congress, the composition of the new UEFA Executive Board was elected and the financial statements, as well as the audit report for the financial year 2023/24 and the accepted financial plan for the financial year 2025/26, were adopted.
