The Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted the leaders of 12 European football associations.
A regional meeting of football officials, presidents and general secretaries from the associations of Southeast Europe was held in Sarajevo, attended by high-ranking guests from the European Football Association (UEFA), including President Aleksandar Čeferin and Director of National Associations Zoran Laković.
The Football Federation of Macedonia was represented by the President, Masar Omeragic, and the Secretary General, Drilon Ganiu.
Participants at the regional meeting stressed the importance of cooperation for the development of football in the region and pointed out how joint work, good communication and exchange of experiences can contribute to improving the competitive and sports infrastructure in this region. They also thanked UEFA for its continued support, especially through the Hattrick program, which enables investments in football, especially infrastructure projects across Europe. The leaders of the federations from the region expressed hope that by working together – from Turkey to Slovenia – the federations can further strengthen the status of the countries from the region in international institutions.
The meeting discussed a number of key topics, including the Hattrick programme, youth football development models, the professional development of coaches, an analysis of the current season in European club competitions and protecting the integrity of football matches. The UEFA administration also made a special contribution with a detailed overview of current football issues in these areas.
The regional meeting, in addition to the Football Federation of Macedonia, was attended by the leaders of the football associations of Turkey, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Cyprus. The participation in this important gathering in Sarajevo further confirms the international reputation of the associations from the region and their contribution to strengthening regional and European football cooperation.
