A strong message from Roberto Rossetti about quality and support: Advanced education and FIFA emblems for Macedonian referees

An advanced educational seminar for referees and assistant referees from the First MFL was organized by the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM), as well as a ceremonial ceremony for awarding the FIFA emblems to Macedonian international referees for 2026.

The chief of judges also addressed the audience. UEFA, Roberto Rossetti, who sent a clear and motivating message to Macedonian judges.

„"We need quality referees from everywhere, including Macedonia. We need top referees, we need quality. Throw away the negative thoughts and give your maximum. We look forward to seeing referees from these regions in our biggest competitions, in the Champions League, at the European Championships and everywhere on the international stage. Everything depends on you," said Rossetti.

He also thanked the FFM leadership for their continued support for the refereeing organization, emphasizing that without strong support from national associations, quality refereeing cannot exist. Rossetti also emphasized the importance of investments in working conditions, organization and technology, including in the improvement of the VAR system.

The President of the FFM, Masar Omeragic, emphasized in his address that the federation is fulfilling the promise made a year ago, to invest maximally in refereeing, in the knowledge and education of referees.

„"Referees are the most important part of the refereeing organization. Your behavior and your decisions can make the championship much easier. We, as a federation, are doing our part, investing in your education and development. We ask you to learn, to listen to advice from more experienced people, to referee honestly and with a minimum of mistakes. I am convinced that you can do even better. Despite that, I must say that we are satisfied with the way you referee and behave," Omeragic stressed.

The seminar focused on advanced expert analysis of match situations, unification of criteria, physical fitness, as well as the use of modern technology in refereeing. More than 70 referees and assistant referees actively participated in the working sessions, with the aim of further improving the quality of refereeing in the First MFL and creating a staff ready for the highest challenges.

With the awarding of the FIFA emblems, Macedonian international referees have officially received recognition for their quality and responsibility to represent Macedonia on the international stage. FFM continues with strong support and investments in the refereeing structure, towards continuous progress, professionalism and presence of Macedonian referees in elite European competitions.
