Macedonia's Under-21 national team is entering an intensive international period. In just eight days, new head coach Aleksandar Tanevski's team will play three matches, one of them a friendly and two as part of the qualifying campaign for the European Championship.
The series begins on 28 September with a friendly against Russia's Under-20 team, which will be played at the „Petar Miloshevski“ training centre. This will be followed by the qualifying match against Montenegro on 1 October in Bitola, while four days later Macedonia will visit Sweden in Falkenberg.
„Three matches await us, and each of them will be important in its own way. First, Russia, against whom we will give the younger footballers a greater opportunity. For them, this is an excellent chance to show themselves and establish themselves as potential options for the next cycle.
Then comes Montenegro in Bitola, where we want to achieve a positive result through a good performance. Finally, there is Sweden, a serious opponent and an opportunity to see how we will respond at a higher level.
I expect to have a clearer picture after this camp of the players and whom we can count on in the coming period,“ said the head coach of the youth national team, Aleksandar Tanevski.
For the new coaching staff, this will be the first opportunity in a series of matches to assess the generation's potential, but also to receive additional answers ahead of the continuation of the qualifiers.
