Vardar celebrates triumph in Kavadarci

Vardar's players achieved their second victory in the new championship, after defeating Tikvesh 1:2 on the road in Kavadarci today. All three goals occurred in the second half, when the guests took a two-goal lead, and Tikvesh only managed to mitigate the defeat in the end.

Zakarić had the first great opportunity in the 20th minute of the match to give Vardar the lead, Stevkovski was brilliant and saved the corner kick.

Ivanovski had the biggest chance for Tikvesh in the 34th minute. Stojanov broke through on the right side, passed goalkeeper Taleski, and passed to Ivanovski who had an empty net, but Danev blocked him and prevented the home team from taking the lead. The score at half-time was 0-0.

At the start of the second half, Matić tried with his head, and the ball almost ended up near the Tikveš goal.

In the 52nd minute, Vardar took the lead. A corner kick was awarded to the "red-blacks" from Skopje, which was taken by Bosančić, who made a nice assist to Matić, and the Vardar stopper headed it past Stevkovski.

Tikvesh tried to equalize through Ivanovski in the 66th minute, his shot ended up hitting the post and in a goal out.

The penalty for the opposing team arrived just two minutes later. Another corner kick by Bosančić, and again Matić jumped the highest and headed it just wide of the post, and the ball bounced to Mato who managed to put the ball in the net for a 2:0 lead for Vardar.

Just a minute later, Todorovski could have brought the lead to 3:0, but Stevkovski was more successful this time.

Finally, Ivanovski, the Tikvesh player, managed to get on the scoresheet in stoppage time on his third chance of the match. From about twenty meters, Ivanovski decided to take a shot, beating the helpless Taleski. However, the goal came too late and Tikvesh had no chance to avoid defeat.
