After losing to Pelister, Shkëndija returned to winning ways by defeating Rabotnichki 3-0 and moving to within one point of league leaders Vardar. Today, Tetovo’s „red and blacks“ face bottom side Shkupi at home, and an easy triumph is expected in the race for first place at the end of the season.
Shkëndija are aware of the situation their opponents find themselves in, but say there is no room for underestimating them and that they will seek victory in every match until the end of the championship, regardless of who their opponent is.
„The convincing triumph over Rabotnichki had a very positive impact on the atmosphere in the team. After the unexpected defeat to Pelister, we had to pick ourselves up and continue on the path towards defending the title. We are now fully focused on the next challenge, which is Shkupi. We are sorry that a team with such a history finds itself in such a position. But we are Shkëndija and, regardless of the standings, we respect every opponent and will remain fully focused until the end of the championship on earning as many points as possible,“ said Shkëndija player Lorik Jakupi.
„We must maintain our positive form; we will play as if it were a derby match. There is no room for underestimating them; our aim is to win in a dominant and convincing manner. We must leave nothing to chance on our path to the top of the table,“ Jakupi added.
The match will be played at the stadium in Tetovo, kicking off at 15:30.
