The Macedonian U21 national team opens its qualification for the 2027 European Championship against Poland today at 18:00 in Krakow. The youth coach, Goran Stanić, is optimistic ahead of the match against strong Poland. He says that we have done good preparations and the players are ready for the challenge.
"I believe in the team. We have worked well in the past few days and we are ready for the match. Poland is an excellent team, they have quality in all positions. Together with Italy, they are the favorites in our group. Our goal is to leave a positive impression and start the new cycle with such a result. We have no problems with injured players, everyone is in the lineup for the match and I am confident that they will have a serious approach throughout the entire 90 minutes. Our focus is exclusively on today's match, then we will head towards the home match with Italy," said coach Goran Stanić.
Our national team player Dimitar Trajkov also believes that Macedonia has an excellent generation that needs to show its quality in the group that, in addition to Poland and Sweden, also includes Sweden, Montenegro and Armenia.
"We expect a difficult but exciting cycle. Everyone in the team is highly motivated and ready to give their all. We have a clear goal, to fight for a place and to show that Macedonia has a quality young generation. The test matches were very useful. The coaching staff made a good analysis, we worked on details and I think we showed progress. Of course, there are things that can be improved, but in general, the atmosphere and engagement were at a high level. Most of the players have been together for a long time, we function well on the field, but also off it. We all know that European matches are more difficult, but if we want to achieve a positive result, we all have to give more than our maximum," said Trajkov.
