Macedonia U21 narrowly defeated by Italy in Bitola

The Macedonian U-21 national team lost to Italy in the second round of European Championship qualifiers.

After the defeat in Poland, Goran Stanić's team lost in Bitola to favored Italy 0:1.

The match at "Petar Miloshevski" was watched by about 8,000 spectators, but the joy went to the guests, even though they played with a player less for more than one half.

The Italians took the lead in the 35th minute through Luca Marianuchi, who after a mix-up in our penalty area was left alone at the far post and accurately scored into Vasilev's net.

Macedonia took the initiative after Dashmir Elezi and Martin Gjorgjievski entered the game, had several attempts through Hamza, Nikolovski and Gashtarov, but without success.

In the 55th minute, our players requested a penalty after a handball by Idrizi, but the referee did not award the harshest penalty.

Despite the numerical advantage and the support from the stands, the young "red-yellows" failed to equalize and remained without points against the strong Italy.
