Between the two matches against Scottish side Hibernian in the third qualifying round of the Conference League, Tetovo-based Shkendija returns to domestic league action, where they face the big derby of the second round in the First League against reigning champions Vardar.
After returning from Scotland, Tetovo’s „red and blacks“ had two days available to prepare fully for this match. Shkendija goalkeeper Ferat Ramani confirmed the entire team’s high level of readiness for Sunday’s derby clash in Skopje.
„We are always fully prepared, and every match has the same importance for us. We go onto every pitch with one single goal—to win. Regardless of who is on the other side, we follow the ideas of the head coach and give the last atom of our strength on the pitch,“ Ramani stressed.
The young goalkeeper believes the team can produce another positive performance, although he admits that the congested schedule and travel fatigue could be a serious opponent for the Tetovo side.
„As always, we are going only for the win, nothing else. The team is ready. Although we feel a little tired from the journey and the intense rhythm, that is football—we are ready for every challenge. Tomorrow, we will go for all three points without any calculations,“ Ramani said.
Ahead of this major derby clash, Shkendija is facing as many as four significant absences. First-choice goalkeeper Babucar Gaye, defender Bojan Dimoski and forward Sebastian Spahiu will not be in contention for the team. An additional concern is the condition of goalkeeper Astrit Amzai, who is still recovering from physical problems and whose participation remains a major question mark.
The big derby of the second round, Vardar–Shkendija, will be played at the „Todor Proeski“ Arena in Skopje, kicking off at 17:00.
