The Macedonia national team is putting the finishing touches to its preparations in Istanbul for tomorrow’s friendly against Turkey, one of the teams that have secured qualification for the World Cup.
Ahead of the clash at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, head coach Goce Sedloski stressed that the match represents an excellent opportunity to assess the qualities of the new team being built.
„Turkey are an exceptionally strong national team with players competing at the highest European level. For us, this is another important test in the process of building the team. We do not have much time to work, but I am satisfied with the players“ attitude and commitment. I want us to represent ourselves in a good light and show that we can compete on equal terms with opponents like these,” Sedloski said.
The head coach announced the possibility of changes to the lineup compared with the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to give the other internationals a chance as well.
„We have many new players in the squad, including seven from the domestic league. It is important for everyone to experience what it means to play for the national team and gradually fit into the system. The result is important, but it is even more important to build a recognizable style of play and team chemistry,“ Sedloski added.

Ezǵan Alioski also addressed the press conference, stressing that such matches are of great importance for the development of the team.
„These are matches from which we can learn a great deal. We showed good things against Bosnia and Herzegovina, but it is clear that we need time to gel. Every such match is a new experience and another step forward for the team,“ Alioski said.
The Macedonia international also spoke about the significance of the number 10 shirt, which he is wearing in the absence of captain Enis Bardhi.
„It is a great honour to wear that number for the national team. However, the most important thing is what you show on the pitch. The national team has always been a special motivation for me, and I hope I will continue to contribute to its success,“ Alioski said.
The friendly between Turkey and Macedonia will be played tomorrow at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium in Istanbul, kicking off at 18:30.
