Sileks and Shkëndija Tetovo have reached the final of this year’s edition of the Macedonia Cup.
The two teams sitting at the very top of the first-tier standings ultimately managed to overcome the Second League sides, who are also fighting for a possible place in the elite football division.
Sileks defeated Ohrid 1:0, which was enough to secure a place in the final after the first leg ended without a winner, 1:1.
The match was decided in the 34th minute, when Darko Dodev successfully converted an 11-metre penalty. Kratovo’s side could have taken the lead earlier, but Adi Alić failed to convert a penalty in the 25th minute, shooting straight at Ohrid goalkeeper Damjan Serafimov.
In the second semi-final, Tetovo’s Shkëndija secured a 2:0 away win over Shkëndija Aračinovo.
The Tetovo side dominated throughout the match, but the first-tier team only broke the opponents’ resistance in the closing stages.
Sebastian Spahiu scored the opening goal in the 86th minute, while Richard Ndzenge was added to the scoresheet in the 88th.
In the third minute of stoppage time, visiting player Romario Ronaldo Webster had to leave the field early and head to the dressing room.
