Struga Trim Lum took a step back in the battle for a place in the European competitions after losing 1-2 at home to Tikvesh.
This was Tikvesh’s twelfth victory of the season, and the team is in fifth place. Struga, meanwhile, are third with 56 points, eight fewer than second-placed Shkendija.
Struga had the only chance in the opening 20 minutes, threatening through Maleski, who failed to convert a clear-cut opportunity. The hosts then opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Marjan Radeski found the net, with the help of goalkeeper Tasev.
However, the hosts’ joy was short-lived, as in the 26th minute, following a cross, former Struga player Besir Ramadani equalised and did not celebrate the goal out of respect for his former club.
At the start of the second half, Memetriza Hamza shot from an angle straight at goal, but Tasev saved it. Tikvesh then defended, before taking the lead following a counterattack.
In the 56th minute, Sila won the ball in midfield after a careless pass, ran half the length of the pitch and scored to make it 1-2.
Until the end of the match, Struga searched for an equaliser but failed to find one. The game was also marked by a frightening moment when Pape Fal of the home side suffered a nasty injury and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
