Vardar will celebrate winning the title at home

In the final match of the season, Vardar welcome Shkendija in front of their supporters, the team that was the “red and blacks”” most serious competitor in the battle for the championship trophy throughout the season.

That is precisely why there could be no better way to conclude the competition, in which Vardar will ultimately celebrate winning the trophy and returning to the throne of Macedonian football after a six-year absence.

Vardar last won the PMFL title in the 2019/2020 season, and this will be the “red and blacks”” 12th title overall, strengthening their position at the top of the all-time list of the most decorated teams in Macedonia.

The team led by Goce Sedloski, who will sit on Vardar’s bench for the final time this afternoon in the match against their great rival, enter the game on a run of six victories. Since the match against Arsimi, in which the opponent won 1:0, the new champions have gone eight matches without defeat, with only one draw recorded, away in Bitola.

During this run, which has lasted since the beginning of April, Vardar’s goalkeepers have had to retrieve the ball from their own net only once.

In the previous two matches played during the season, both teams recorded one victory each, with both wins coming on the opponent’s ground.

Last November, Vardar won 1:0 in Tetovo, with David Babunski scoring the goal, while in Skopje, Liridon Latifi scored Shkendija’s only goal.

The match in Skopje will be played at the Todor Proeski Arena, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00.
