The leaders of the domestic football championship, Vardar, visit Struga this afternoon, where a point would be enough to clinch the championship title—the trophy the club has been waiting six years for.
With two rounds remaining, the “red and blacks” have a six-point lead over their direct rivals, Shkëndija of Tetovo.
The team led by Goce Sedloski head to Struga on a run of five consecutive victories, or seven matches overall without tasting defeat, and only Pelister managed to earn a point during this run.
On the other hand, Struga TL have suffered defeats in their last two PMFL appearances—at home against AP Brera and last week against Shkëndija in Tetovo.
There was no winner in the two previous championship meetings. In October last year in Skopje, Vardar and Struga scored two goals apiece, while towards the end of February the nets were rattled once each.
In Struga, Hristijan Maleski and Mislav Matić got on the scoresheet, while at the Arena the visitors took the lead twice, through goals by Bunjamin Shabani and Basiru Compaore, with Vardar equalising through Mato, who failed to convert a penalty, and Gjorgje Jankulov, whose goal came in the second minute of stoppage time.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 16:00.
