The Macedonia A national team is continuing preparations for the friendly matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo and Türkiye in Istanbul. Elif Elmas says that the new cycle, changes in the team and the new head coach require complete focus on their own game and the creation of a recognizable style on the pitch.
„We have a new head coach, this is the second gathering and there are new players. The most important thing is for us to focus on ourselves and on what we need to build as a national team ahead of the September matches. We are facing strong opponents and must prepare to the maximum,“ Elmas said.
The Macedonia international believes that the team should play more openly and offensively, while also maintaining its compactness when necessary.
„I expect us to play more attacking football, because if you do not attack, you cannot win. Football requires balance; sometimes we all have to defend, and sometimes we all have to attack. It will be important how we implement the tasks we receive from the head coach.“.
Elmas also spoke about the absence of captain Enis Bardhi, pointing out that his presence always means a great deal to the team.
„Enis is very important to us, both as a captain and as a person in the dressing room. He will be missed in these matches because, even when he does not play, he helps everyone a great deal.“.
He added that these matches would be a good opportunity for the new footballers to integrate into the national team.
„We always welcome new players positively, regardless of where they come from. When playing for Macedonia, everyone gives their maximum. Our task is to help them integrate more quickly and create a good atmosphere, as was the case before,“ Elmas said.
