Shkendija's historic placement in the CL elimination phase

In the last match of the main round in the Conference League, Shkendija was defeated by AEK 1:0 on the road in Larnaca, but our champion ultimately managed to secure a place in the elimination phase and record the greatest success in the history of Macedonian club football.

The Tetovo team opened the match well and had a chance to score early on, but Ronaldo Webster failed to beat the opposing goalkeeper.

In the second half, the initiative was on the side of AEK, who scored a goal at the end of the first half, but it was disallowed due to an illegal position of the scorer Gjorge Ivanovic.

At the beginning of the second half, after only eight minutes of play, Liridon Latifi received a red card for a rough start, and by the end of the match, Jeton Beqiri's team had to play with one less player on the field.

Despite this fact, Shkendija did not give up on the offensive game, but seven minutes before the end, after a corner kick from the Pole, Karol Angielski scored the winning goal for AEK Larnaca.

Despite the defeat, Shkendija ultimately managed to find itself among the teams that continue their performance in the third-ranking club competition in Europe, and the opponent will be known after the draw that will be held on January 16, and possible opponents are the Polish champion, Lech and the Turkish representative Samsun.

The Macedonian champion will play the first elimination round matches on February 19 and 28.
