Following their defeat to Struga Trim Lum and the suspension of the stadium in Kumanovo, Bashkimi now face a difficult battle to escape the relegation playoff zone. However, the schedule is not in the Kumanovo side’s favour, as they will face teams competing for the championship title – Shkëndija and Vardar.
According to Muharem Mislimi, today’s match in Tetovo against Shkëndija is a genuine „battle of gladiators“ between teams with diametrically opposed objectives.
„The match in Tetovo will be the toughest for us this season, because we are playing against a team for whom victory is imperative. With the absence of the two centre-backs and captain Armend Alimi due to cards, this match is a mission for us which, if we complete it successfully, will be recorded in the club’s annals in golden letters. I expect a gladiatorial battle – one side is fighting for the title, while the other is fighting to avoid the playoff,“ Mislimi said, among other things.
In the 15 previous meetings between these two teams, Shkëndija have been more successful, with a total of eight wins. Bashkimi have won three times, while four matches ended in draws. This season, Tetovo’s „red-and-blacks“ dominated both previous encounters (a 5-1 win in Tetovo and a 3-1 win in Kumanovo), and they enter today’s match as absolute favourites.
The Shkëndija-Bashkimi match will be played at the city stadium in Tetovo, starting at 16.00.
