Macedonia head coach Goce Sedloski spoke openly after the convincing defeat to Denmark in Copenhagen, in the semi-final of the 2026 World Cup play-offs.
He pointed out that the turning point of the match was the opponent’s early goal at the start of the second half, after which the team completely lost its balance.
„We played the first half in a disciplined manner and I was satisfied with how we looked. At half-time, I stressed that we had to be careful in the opening minutes of the second half, but that was precisely when we conceded a goal. It threw us off rhythm and it was then difficult to get back into the game,“ Sedloski said.
The head coach stressed that the opponent punished the weaknesses he had previously warned about.
„This is a heavy blow for us. Denmark were getting to the goals through the wings, something we had analysed and tried to shut down. Their full-backs constantly created a numerical advantage and caused us major problems in defence,“ Sedloski added.
