The women’s national football team suffered another heavy defeat against Hungary. This time, in the away match in Felcsút, Hungary won 7:0.
Sofia Mayer opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Ten minutes before the end of the first half, Mila Paneva scored an own goal to give the opponents a 2:0 lead.
Unfortunately, Hungary dominated the remainder of the match and scored five more goals in the second half.
Two minutes into the second half, Emeke Papai increased the lead to 3:0, and in the 51st minute Mayer scored again to put Hungary 4:0 ahead.
In the 63rd minute, the home side failed to convert a penalty, taken by Jeanette Kajan. However, five minutes later Kajan was more accurate and gave Hungary a 5:0 lead.
Hungary scored two more goals in the closing stages of the match. In the 85th minute, Vanessa Nagy increased the lead to 6:0, while Csilla Savanya set the final score at 7:0 by converting a penalty in the third minute of stoppage time.
In the other match in our group, Azerbaijan defeated Andorra 2:0 and strengthened its grip on second place in the standings.
With the final two rounds approaching, Hungary lead with 10 points, one more than Azerbaijan. Macedonia are third with three points, while Andorra are last with one.
In the penultimate round on 5 June, Macedonia will visit Andorra, while four days later we will host Azerbaijan in Bitola.
