Vardar ended its negative run after defeating Sileks by a convincing 4-1 at the Todor Proeski National Arena in Skopje. Rising to the challenge, the Vardar players produced an efficient performance and fully deserved the three points, although Sileks was also a quality opponent.
Vardar took the lead as early as the third minute. Spahiu broke down the left, crossed into the middle, and Dimitar Danev beat goalkeeper Dzekov with a precise shot. Sileks threatened in the 17th minute, when Hasukić headed over Taleski’s goal.
Two minutes later, Spahiu headed straight at Dzekov. In the 27th minute, Ediz Spahiu opted for a shot from the edge of the penalty area from an angle on the left and hit the post of Sileks’ goal.
Two minutes later, Nihat Shero had an excellent opportunity, went through one-on-one, but Taleski saved by diving at his feet.
Sileks equalized in the 37th minute. After a lengthy move, Eftimov picked out Anđeleski from the left, and Vardar’s captain beat Taleski with an excellent shot.
In the 44th minute, another chance for Shero. A counterattack opened up, and he opted for a shot from 20 metres, but Davor Taleski also made an excellent save.
Eftimov was the first to threaten in the second half, but he shot over the goal. Then, however, Vardar struck. In the 63rd minute, Mihail Manevski managed to find the back of Sileks’ net, and six minutes later Miguel Pires scored against his former team to make it 3-1.
Those were excellent substitutions by Matija Mirkov, given that both players came on in the second half. Sileks could have responded in the 76th minute through Ilija Donov, but his shot was not accurate.
Velinovski then threatened, while Mishov’s header in the 86th minute was much more dangerous. Nevertheless, Vardar scored again. In the 89th minute, Ediz Spahiu put the finishing touch on the triumph for the final 4-1.
