Aleksandar Tanevski – head coach of the Macedonia Under-21 national team:

“A serious test awaits us against an exceptionally high-quality side. Serbia are hosting the UEFA European Under-21 Championship and have high ambitions with this squad, which makes the match an excellent opportunity to test our capabilities against a strong opponent.

The majority of our squad consists of players born in 2006 and 2007, who should become key players for the national team in the next qualifying cycle. In addition, we will have several players born in 2005 who, due to the age limit, will not be eligible to play in the next cycle, but they are players with the potential and quality to represent the senior national team.

The players from the younger generations who were part of the previous camp will this time be available to the coaches of the respective youth national teams, who are facing qualifying matches. At the Federation, we work according to a common concept and with a clear goal: the development of players and the advancement of representative football.

Although this is a friendly match, it is very important to us. It will allow us to see how we perform and respond against a strong opponent, but also to gain a clearer picture of the areas to which we need to devote attention in the period ahead.“
