The referees delegated for the first match of this year’s Nations League edition, in which Macedonia’s national team faces Switzerland on Saturday, are known.
The referee will be German Daniel Schlager, assisted by Sven Waschitzki and Tobias Fritsch. Robin Braun has been delegated as the fourth official, while Benjamin Brand and Benjamin Cortus will be in the VAR room.
For the German referee, who has held the FIFA badge since 2022, this will be the 303rd match of his career and only his second in the Nations League, having officiated in the previous edition on 17 November 2024 in the match between Macedonia and the Faroe Islands, which we won 1–0, with Bojan Miovski scoring the goal.
Schlager averages 4.31 yellow cards per match, while six footballers were cautioned in the match at the Todor Proeski Arena: Nikola Serafimov, Ezgjan Alioski, Enis Bardhi, Isnik Alimi, Milan Ristovski and Petur Knudsen.
The German referee has also been delegated for two matches in the European Championship qualifiers, while in club competitions organized by UEFA he has officiated 16 matches, 13 of them in the Conference League and three in the Europa League.
In the Bundesliga, Schlager has officiated 106 matches, while he has been delegated for 17 matches in the German Cup.
